Check this out.  Audi has bought a 60-second spot in Super Bowl XLII.  The Audi R8 (Iron Man Tony Stark’s choice of car for the upcoming Iron Man movie) seems to be the driving force behind the decision. 

According to Steve Miller’s article, titled “Q&A: Audi’s Scott Keough” when Scott was asked, “How did the Super Bowl XLII media buy come about?”  The answer was, “We sat around in a room with a bunch of marketing partners talking about the R8 and the year ahead.  With the R8 receiving this great response (since it hit US dealerships in October), the Super Bowl was the final piece of the puzzle.”

While you knew that Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) would be driving the Audi R8 you might not know that Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) will also be driving an Audi in the film.  She will be driving the Audi A5.  

A Humble Suggestion For the Audi Ad From Yours Truly (too late I know)

It would be cool if Audi got Iron Man in the film somehow.  If I was asked for my opinion on a great Ironman movie / Audi ad combo I’d suggest a cute clip with Iron Man playfully showing off and racing Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) in her Audio A5 (the A5 giving Iron Man a run for his money of course).  A glitch occurs in the Iron Man armor and the malfunction grounds Iron Man.  Pepper pulls up next to him and glibly asks Iron Man as he unmasks (revealing Robert Downey Jr.) if he needs a ride.  Jarvis (Tony Stark’s butler) saving face for Tony Stark soon pulls up in Stark’s Audi R8 and says, “Your car is ready, Mr. Stark.”  A frustrated Tony Stark proceeds to get in the Audi R8 (chance to show off the interior) and then Pepper Potts and Tony Stark proceed racing again.  Now that is a Super Bowl caliber ad that would have people talking!   My humble opinion of course.
