Why Ironman?
Why create a website dedicated to IRONMAN TONY STARK? Well, let’s try approaching it rather, why not? You see I use to be a huge Spider-Man fan but now that everyone seems to be a spidey fan (rightfully so due in large part to the well deserved success of the recent Spider-Man films) I’ve backed off on Spidey. I mean what’s the fun in liking what everyone else on the planet likes. Superman is really great overall too. However, although I respect the guy the challenge I have with Superman is I can’t really identify with his flawless character. I mean wouldn’t most of us love to be confident that our principles are applicable 100% of the time when applying those principles to every fork in the road we face in life?
I’m not saying a person shouldn’t strive to be a superperson I’m just saying I’m a little weaker than I am super. Superman overall is just a little too goody-goody for me. Another one I’ve always liked is Ghost Rider, but Nicholas Cage ruined that for me. It wasn’t exactly a major loss because let’s face it; I’m not as macho as I want to be and I’m far from a bike riding bad-to-the-bone kind of guy. My relationship with Ghost Rider is a shallow one at best. I will say that it’s really depressing that I can’t read a Ghost Rider comic now without thinking of Cage. I loved him in Raising Arizona, but come on guys, Ghost Rider? Nevertheless, I could go on evaluating every character in the comic book world but I think you get my point. I chose to make a site dedicated to Iron man Tony Stark because overall I just think Ironman is one of the coolest looking, most evolving Marvel characters today and yes, I relate to Ironman on the “inside”. Awww…isn’t that sweet?
Tony Stark: The Man Inside the Iron
So that brings us to my subject Tony Stark aka Ironman. Obviously, I like Tony Stark. He’s successful but flawed and he’s made some big mistakes in life; however, he’s trying to salvage what is good out of it as best he can as Stark attempts to make it up to society. Tony Stark fits well in a modern setting. In the comic world Tony’s billions primarily come from his innovative genius with weaponry and ultra business savvy working with the military. Consider all the attention our controversial war with Iraq is getting as well as ethical and legal challenges facing certain arms dealers involved and you can easily picture yourself in Tony’s world. When faced later on with the consequences of his actions Stark has an epiphany and it leads to the whole, “What have I done?” thing. As a result of this epiphany a desire to make things right emerges and Tony uses his genius to create power armor which ultimately leads to the Iron Man we know and love.
Tony’s got other problems as well with his personal life. If you aren’t aware of it a major one is that he becomes an alcoholic and continually struggles with it. In this case, Tony Stark could have become a villain very easily as weakness was taking his life over, but he eventually found his conscience and made a choice to turn it around and make things right. I don’t know about you but I would just LOVE to have billions to play with to make the world a better place.
Robert Downey Jr. as Ironman
Now, I know many out there may disagree with me, but I think Robert Downey Jr. is the perfect choice for Tony Stark. Admittedly my perception of Downey Jr. is only what the media feeds me but regardless of what reality is it’s this image that
Downey is a troubled man he can’t escape. Regardless of Robert Downey Jr’s past you can’t help but like the guy. He pulls off the bad boy arrogant genius type to perfection.
Downey thrived in the role of Ironman Tony Stark in the Iron Man movie. In a nutshell, he seemed to play the role as himself and I walked away from the movie a happy camper. Everyone did a nice job on the Ironman movie including some of the actors like, Gwyneth Paltrow that I was a little worried about based on some recent prior performances. So there you have it. I’ve always been a huge fan of Iron Man and I’m eagerly awaiting the release of the Ironman II Movie as many of you are so I hope you enjoy my Ironman Tony Stark website as I know that I will love writing about what I like and don’t like concerning the rise of Ironman as he is introduced through film to a wider audience across the globe.
